Gathering skills allow you to collect valuable resources throughout the game world. These resources are used for crafting and advancing community projects to unlock new content. Gathering nodes are scattered throughout the world with the most rate ones showing up in the most challenging areas.
Players have a gathering skill power for every gathering type. You can increase your skill power by increasing your XP in the Mastey System or by equipping better tools. Every gathering node in the world also has a power rating which determines how difficult it is to gather. If a player is a lower power rating that the node then they will struggle to gather from it. If they are above the power of the node then gathering will be quicker and more effective.
In order to attempt gathering from a node, you must have at least a gather power of 200 below that nodes power. To have the most effectively gathering, you will need to have 200 gathering power above the node you are harvesting.
In order to gather from a node, you must have the relevant tool equipped. For example, to mine ore you need a pickaxe and to chop wood you need an axe. Each tool provides a certain amount of crafting power and has a certain amount of durability.
When you use a tool, there is a chance that its durability will be damaged. When the durability reaches 0, the tool is destroyed. The chance of having the durability damaged depends on the difference of your gathering power compared to the node you are gathering from. If your power is very low compared to the node you are gathering from then your tool will receive more durability damage.
Most gathering resource types will have 5 tiers of power which are each harder to gather and rarer to find. Below are the various types of resources you will find in game.
