Mastery System

The mastery system is intended to provide a form of durable progression for players that does not reset with death. In the system, there are various "tracks" that can be leveled up for account bonuses that are tied to your account and are not reset when characters die. Progression in the system can be tokenzied in order to be traded on the market between players

The mastery system is a proposal and has not been implemented in game. It will need to be voted for by the community before it is implemented.

Progression Tracks

Progression tracks can be advanced with mastery points in order to unlock perks for your account. There are two different kinds of tracks called "Experience Tracks" and "Skill Tracks". Below are descriptions of each type and how they are advanced.

Experience Tracks

Experience tracks are advanced by earning experience points in game. You can have one active track at a time which will be advanced by your experience from killing enemies. Below are some examples of bonuses that can be earned in experience tracks

  • + Magic Find

  • + Gold Find

  • Special class unlocks

  • Special title unlocks

Skill Tracks

Skill tracks are advanced by performing specific tasks in game. For example, there could be a crafting track that is progressed every time you craft an item. In this case, the amount of experience gained would be relative to the difficulty of the item that was crafted. Here are some examples of skill tracks...

  • Improve crafting crit chance

  • Unlock special crafting recipes

  • Reduced enchanting cost

Upgrading Mastery Tracks

Each mastery track has a set of levels which can be unlocked with enough experience points. Each level that is unlocked will provide a specific account bonus with it. Each level is exponentially harder to unlock providing long last challenge and progression for top players. As an example, this might be what the Magic Find track would look like...

The table above is just as an example and doesn't represent the real numbers for the final system.

The levelling progression will be designed to ensure that decent bonuses are in reach for all players while ensuring there are increased bonuses to highly dedicated players. The top tiers of bonuses will be expected to take years to fully grind out.

Tokenizing Mastery Points

It will be possible to lock your track experience into a skill infusion token which can then be bought and sold on the NFT market. This will enable people who want speed up their progression to purchase progress from other players that are interested in making a profit.

Using the Etherforge, you can craft a skill infusion and select how much expirience of what track you want to put into it. Your account will then be granted the infusion but lose the experience (and bonuses it provided). Similarly, you can put an already crafted infusion into the Etherforge to destroy it and add the experience to your account tracks progress (unlocking new bonuses).

The initial plan is to only allow tokenizing of progress from skill tracks and not from experience tracks.

Horizontal Progression

The mastery system is designed for horizontal progression. This means new tracks will be added over time in order to provide new goals to accomplish. For example, if there was a dragon themed release, it could also include new dragon themed bonuses which can be unlocked and are useful on dragon specific maps. This allows creating new progression in the game without invalidating the hard earned progress from before.
