# Heroic Quests Heroic quests take the risk and reward dynamic of quests to the next level. In order to start a heroic quest, you will need to use a heroic key. However, completing a heroic quest gives you chances to earn bonus reward chests with huge rewards in them. ## Heroic Keys Heroic Keys are required to start Heroic Quests. Heroic Keys can be crafted, and their recipe requires precious Gems. There are 3 tiers of Heroic Keys each resulting in a higher difficulty quest but also a better chance at bonus chests.

When a Heroic Key is used, **25% of its gem value is granted to each of the 3 bonus chest types.** The last 25% is burned. This means the more keys that are used the larger the gem bonus in the heroic reward chests will be. ## Quest Challenges Heroic Quests are meant to test your skill and your characters build to the limit. As a result, there are a few added challenges for Heroic Quests... * **They must be completed solo. No one else is able to join the quest with you.** * **Using a town portal will fail the quest.** * **You cannot use Faction Keys with Heroic Keys, so the quest will aways be fully random.** ## Heroic Cache When you complete a Heroic Quest, you will be granted Heroic Chests which provide additional rewards for your run. Each Heroic Chest has a chance to win a Heroic Cache of great value. There are 3 different tiers of cache (small, medium and large) and each has different odds of winning. The number of Heroic Chests you receive per run is determined by the tier of the Heroic Quest.

Each cache has the following bonuses... * Gems based on how many Heroic Keys have been used since the last time that chest was rewarded. * Random items rolled with a +100,000% magic find bonus.

## Heroic Marks There is a special resource called Heroic Fragments which can only be found on Heroic Quests. Once you collect 250 heroic fragments you can craft them into a [Heroic Mark](https://nft.io/asset/2100-3) in the [Etherforge](https://whitepaper.etherscape.io/gameplay/crafting/how-to-use-the-etherforge). The more marks that you hold the more in game bonuses you will unlock.
